Realistic Fear

I won't take the time to explain why this is so other than I have watched both "30 Days of Night" and "The Strangers" recently, but, I am more realistically - that's right, really for realsies - afraid vampires chasing after me than I am afraid of people who come to my house and try to kill me.

Go figure.

After watching Silent Hill, I was afraid of old-fashioned nurses for about a week. Fear is fear and doesn't have to have a rational basis. Go you for admitting your fear.

As I fellow vampire/monster geek...I say embrace the fear. I suggest being scared at least once a day. If all else fails, it keeps the bowels moving.

Sarah, I was terrified of werewolves until I was 27 years old! When I was 3 my stepfather made me watch some werewolf movie on television. He would then point out every full moon, or the procession of the moon to full. The night of the full moon, after I was asleep, he would come in and wreck my room and tell me that a werewolf must have gotten in. He would sometimes scratch at my door and tell me later it was a werewolf trying to get in.

And then I had to go and marry a man in agriculture. His employment wasn't exactly located in metropolitan places. Rob had to go to Chile for three weeks and I had to stay home with three children four and under. One full moon night, I was driving through the country side, dreading pulling up to my house and having to get out of my car and lift the garage door (no auto opener), and go into my dark house. I suddenly realized that I had to be brave for my little girls and that it was high time I tried. I went through my dark house, up the very dark stairs, into my bedroom, and then into my bathroom--the longest walk in the house in the dark--and turned on the light. It was VERY SCARY. But, since then, I've not been afraid. In fact, I just mentioned to my girls that I am thinking about seeing "Underworld." Holding your fear captive makes YOU the one in power :D Love you. Ooooh, your neck is sooooo pretty....
